The folks at GreenSlate, the company responsible for developing and managing the Blackstone District, are focused on creating what they call “a true community” for Omaha residents. So, giving the historic Colonial Hotel new life as upscale apartment homes was a natural fit. And our people were there to help with financing for the endeavor.
Patrick Zach, Dundee loan officer for the project, enjoyed being a part of the renovation that has restored this century-old iconic building in Blackstone. So, what did it involve?
The 40,000 square-foot, six-story building was previously comprised of 100 transient lodging units which were renovated into 40 high-end apartments.
A new link on the north side of the building was added to connect the two structures originally built in the early 1900s. It also houses a new elevator and stair core for the building.
