It’s Super Bowl weekend! Time to gather with family and friends to cheer on your favorite team. Not into football? There will be high priced commercials to entertain during the breaks with Madonna performing during Halftime. Best of all…there will be wonderful food truly worthy of Super Bowl status. Enjoy!

It’s the end of the month, and we have loved the mild temperatures. The average snowfall for Omaha this January was one inch, spread over four days. Yesterday we had all time high temperatures. We in Nebraska know how to enjoy a beautiful day. It was great and we fully appreciate the gift! Thanks January!

Yesterday, the mayor of Omaha made an announcement on the new Street-Scape for the Dundee neighborhood. Many local leaders, merchants and elected official have worked to make this a reality. More parking,better traffic flow, beautiful sidewalks, benches, street lamps and landscaping. Good for the neighborhood, local merchants and the city of Omaha. Great job!

We’d love to have you drop by the bank today from 1-3PM for an Open House honoring our neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Hyland. The Hyland’s are owner/operators of GRANDPA’s, our Dundee grocery, and will be retiring beginning Sunday. They have touched the lives of so many. Come by, visit with neighbors and business owners and wish them well.

The Dundee neighborhood is a unique blend of architecture, beautiful lawns and parks, but our most important distinction is our people. One of the pillars of the neighborhood has been Mr. & Mrs. Hyland, owners and operators of GRANDPA’S, our local market. They are retiring from the grocery business. There is a great article in The World-Herald’s business section today highlighting their story. We send our very best wishes and thanks to a special family.

Good news! The ice rink in the sunks (Happy Hollow Blvd and Underwood Ave) has been refilled. Adam and Pat, two of our loan officers, filled it early Thursday morning when temperatures were in the single digits. Soon we will have ice ready for skating. We’re ready. Bring on the cold!

We think any time is cookie time, but there is no time like Girl Scout Cookie time. We have waited a year, and finally, the Girl Scouts are out selling their yummy wares. Some of the girls are taking orders, while others have the cookies available at the time of sale. What a deal! We get cookies and the money benefits the Girl Scout programs of Omaha.

Yes, for many it is a three day weekend. Amazing! Right after the holidays! We hope the weather cooperates and the sun continues to shine. Dundee Bank will be open regular hours this Saturday from 9AM until Noon. We will be closed Monday, January 16th in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday. Enjoy your weekend!
